Todd Diacon, Kent State University Todd Diacon is completing his fifth year of service as the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Kent State University, an institution enrolling 42,000 students across eight campuses. Previous administrative appointments have included serving as Deputy Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Since his arrival at Kent State, freshman-to-sophomore retention has increased from 77% to 83%, and, for the first time ever, in 2016 the entering freshman class of 4,250 students on the Kent campus reflected the diversity of the State of Ohio with 17% of the students coming from underrepresented groups. Under his direction international enrollment on the Kent campus reached 11% of the student body, the highest percentage in the state of Ohio. In 2016 Diacon created and led a program to diversify the faculty, which resulted in a 28% increase in underrepresented tenure-stream faculty on the Kent campus. Diacon completed the ACE Institute for New Chief Academic Officers, as well as Harvard’s Institute for Educational Management. He currently is directing the creation of the Mid-American Conference Academic Leadership Development Program. |
