Michael QuillenRowan-Cabarrus Community College Dr. Michael Quillen serves as the Vice President of Academic Programs at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in North Carolina. As the Chief Academic Officer, he leads areas ranging from dual credit, early college programs, libraries, tutoring, as well as curriculum and programs. Over the past 5 years, Rowan-Cabarrus has experienced significant growth to become the 8th largest community college in North Carolina serving over 22,000 students annually. During his 27-year career, he has served as an adjunct faculty member, tenured Professor of Biology, program chair, department chair, director of technical programs, and as the System Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs in Kentucky. In these roles, he has led the development of multiple initiatives, redesigning dual credit, developmental education, distance learning, and transfer programming. He continues this work in North Carolina, where his team is recognized as leaders across the spectrum of academic programs. Dr. Quillen has served as a state board regent in Kentucky and as the president of the North Carolina Association of Community College Institutional Administrators. He currently serves on the North Carolina Board of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Crosby Scholars Rowan Board of directors. Dr. Quillen holds B.S and M.S. degrees in Biology from Morehead State University and a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky. |
