Dr. Mignon Jacobs

Dr. Mignon R. Jacobs is Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and SACSCOC Institutional Accreditation Liaison at Virginia Union University. She is also Professor of Old Testament at Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University. Dr. Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biblical Studies from Bethel University, a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Religion from Claremont Graduate University.
Prior to her role as Provost, Dr. Jacobs was Associate Provost at Virginia Union University, Dean and Chief Academic at Ashland Theological Seminary, a graduate division of Ashland University, and Associate Provost for Educational Effectiveness at Fuller Theological Seminary. She is an international speaker and author of several books—Haggai and Malachi (NICOT Series), Gender, Power Persuasion, and Conceptual Coherence—and numerous chapters and articles.
Dr. Jacobs held several leadership roles in her discipline, community, and professional organizations, including six years as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) Commission on Accrediting; over a decade of accreditation experience with various roles with WASC-SCUC, including accreditation liaison officer, a member of the Interim Report Committee, and an evaluator. Dr. Jacobs was past-President of the Pacific Coast Region for Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) and the Western Commission for the Study of Religion. She served as a community member of the Institutional Review Board for Kaiser Permanente, a Southern California Integrated managed care company.
